Complete white Liberty Walk Nissan 350Z body kit laid out before final paint preparation

Liberty Walk 350Z Paint Prep Begins as the Custom-Spec Watanabe 18s Take Shape

The Liberty Walk Nissan 350Z project reached an important handoff today: the car is getting ready for paint at On Fire Customs.

That milestone follows the less glamorous work that determines whether a widebody car looks resolved when color finally goes on. The Liberty Walk panels were mocked up, the rear arches were opened, the overfender position was checked around the factory body and fuel door, and the major bumper and side-profile relationships were reviewed before finish work.

Paint prep comes after fitment

Composite panels are not installed by simply matching their outer edges. The gaps, fastener lines and transitions between the factory steel body and the Liberty Walk kit all affect the finished profile. Solving those relationships before paint reduces the chance of damaging fresh surfaces during later adjustment.

At On Fire Customs, the next phase is about turning the assembled shapes into a consistent surface. Panel preparation, edge work and final alignment will establish the foundation for the color and graphics that follow.

Watanabe is developing the project-specific 18-inch setup

The wheel direction is equally deliberate. Watanabe is putting together a specific 18-inch configuration for this Liberty Walk 350Z rather than treating the car as a generic widebody fitment. The goal is to match the wheel architecture to the finished fender position, brake package, usable tire space and the stance of the completed car.

Exact dimensions will be shared when the final configuration is locked. That sequence matters: the published specification should describe the wheel being built for the finished package, not an early mock-up number that may change during paint and final assembly.

What happens next

Once paint preparation is complete, the project can move into final exterior assembly and detailed wheel-and-tire verification. Ride height, suspension clearance, steering clearance and the visual relationship between the Watanabe 18s and the Liberty Walk arches will all be checked together.
