October 2026 Motorsport Update: Runoffs, Glen Helen and Long Beach
October has reached the point where nearly every corner of American motorsport is moving at once. The 2026 SCCA National Championship Runoffs just closed at Road America, Champ Off-Road settled major titles at Glen Helen, Formula Drift is preparing for its Long Beach finale, and SEMA Show builders are entering the final month before Las Vegas.
Road America delivered a national-championship pressure test
The 2026 SCCA National Championship Runoffs brought 24 classes to Road America from September 28 through October 4. The results were a reminder that national titles are not won on peak pace alone. Starts, traffic management, tire preparation, brake consistency and finishing every lap all mattered on the 4.048-mile Wisconsin circuit.

One of the weekend's headline results came in Formula F, where 14-year-old Ybarra became the youngest Formula F champion in Runoffs history. Other class wins were decided by margins small enough to make setup discipline and race execution impossible to separate.
Glen Helen closed the Champ Off-Road season
The short-course season finished with another concentrated test of traction, temperature control and survival. Champ Off-Road's official finale coverage confirmed championships for Henderson and Beat, while Anderson, Barry and Hemmer completed weekend sweeps at Glen Helen. A finale like this puts the entire package under pressure: launch grip, landing control, cooling and the ability to keep components alive through repeated heavy impacts.

Formula Drift Long Beach is the next major date
Formula Drift returns to Long Beach October 23-24 for the Shoreline Showdown. The official Long Beach schedule places qualifying on Friday evening and competition on Saturday. With Conor Shanahan leading the standings and several drivers still close enough to force the issue, the finale has both championship weight and a venue that punishes small mistakes.

SEMA 2026 is now inside the final build month
The 2026 SEMA Show runs November 3-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For builders, the calendar is no longer theoretical. Paint, assembly, transport, display planning and media preparation all have to converge. Race Club is in that same push, with multiple SEMA-bound projects moving toward debut.
This is the part of the season where the disciplines overlap. Race results expose what works under pressure, shop builds turn lessons into hardware, and SEMA puts the finished ideas in front of the industry. Follow the Race Club journal as we cover the final month from the paddock, the fabrication table and the show floor.
