Dustyn Farrell, Formula DRIFT PROSPEC rookie and No. 160 driver

Crank It to Eleven: Dustyn Farrell Puts His Rookie ProSpec Season on the Las Vegas Podium

There is an old Dustyn Farrell story that fits Las Vegas almost too perfectly.

Back in the day, one of his drift cars had a dial inside it that went to 11. Eleven was the serious map, the one you reached for when it was time to stop leaving anything on the table. Before competition in Las Vegas, the message from Race Club was simple: crank her to eleven, buddy. You’ve got this.

Then Farrell went out and finished third in the final round of the 2026 Formula DRIFT PROSPEC season.

From Arizona to Hotpit to Formula DRIFT

Farrell’s path to the national stage did not begin with a polished factory program. Formula DRIFT lists the Queen Creek, Arizona driver as a 29-year-old rookie with 12 years of drifting behind him. His official biography also records the part of his résumé that Southern California grassroots drivers already know: he won the 2023 Hotpit Autofest championship and finished runner-up there in 2025.

That matters because Hotpit was not just somewhere to collect trophies before moving on. It was part of the ladder. Drivers learn to operate under pressure, make a car survive repeated battles, work around changing grip and fix problems fast enough to get back to the line. Farrell carried that experience into PROSPEC rather than arriving as an unknown quantity.

A Rookie Season That Did Not Come Easy

The Vegas podium looks better when the whole season is left in the picture. Farrell opened the year at Road Atlanta with an eighth-place PROSPEC competition finish and six additional seeding points, leaving Round 1 with 26 championship points. Stafford went the other direction: the official results show him 18th with no event points. At Indianapolis he worked back into the Top 16 results and added 10 points.

That left him 10th in the published championship standings after Indianapolis with 36 points. In other words, this was not a rookie campaign where everything clicked immediately and stayed that way. There were good weekends, weekends that hurt, and a lot of work between them.

Las Vegas became the payoff.

Third at HIGH STAKES

Formula DRIFT’s official results for HIGH STAKES list Braden Lons first, Kasey Kohl second and Farrell third. That is a national PROSPEC podium in Farrell’s rookie season, at the final PROSPEC round, after spending the year learning a new level of competition and dealing with the normal punishment that comes with trying to advance a drift program.

It also gives some context to the phrase “crank it to eleven.” The point was never just horsepower. The old dial became shorthand for committing when the opportunity was there. Vegas was exactly that kind of moment.

Why This One Matters

Drifting has a habit of making national-level drivers look as if they appeared overnight. They do not. The ladder is built out of local events, damaged parts, late nights, small-series championships, missed opportunities and the decision to come back after a weekend that did not go your way.

Farrell’s season is a clean example of that process. Arizona grassroots drifting led into years of competition, Hotpit provided a proving ground, and Formula DRIFT became the next test. A third-place result in Las Vegas does not erase the difficult rounds. It validates the work required to get through them.

The official Formula DRIFT driver profile still labels Farrell a rookie. The result sheet now labels him a Las Vegas podium finisher.

One More Thing
